At Farmer Boy Eggs, we pride ourselves on creating a happy, healthy and safe environment for our hens. In fact, our cage free and free range hens are cared for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We never use hormones or antibiotics. All of our hens are provided with the highest quality feed to facilitate superior egg taste and quality.
In caring for our hens, we’ve realized how unique each one’s personality is. Research has even shown that chickens have distinct personalities, numerical abilities and show self-awareness, among other traits. At Farmer Boy Eggs, we recognize these characteristics and we name our hens. We’d love to introduce you to a few of our favorite little ladies below.
This hen is named Lola. She loves attention and her favorite color is fuchsia. She loves to cluck along to her favorite song, Who’s That Chick by Rihanna. When Farmer Boy is away, you’ll find Lola strolling the grounds, looking for just a little bit of drama. Her restaurant where her eggs can be found is Rumour Restaurant because she loves to spread rumors… simple as that.

This next little lady is Sally. Her favorite color is green– just like the pasture she enjoys spending time on. Her favorite song is Old McDonald Had a Farm (but only the part where they talk about chickens). When Farmer Boy is away, Sally loves to watch the neighborhood cows roam around. And her favorite store where her eggs can be found is Natural Grocers in Missoula because she really just loves nature.

Next, say "hello" to Tess! Her favorite color is red because it matches her lovely feathers. She loves any song she can cluck along to as she loves the sound of her own voice. Her favorite activity when Farmer Boy is away is talking, talking, talking to anyone who will listen. Her favorite store where her eggs can be found is Safeway in Helena.

Our next happy hen is Dianna. Her favorite color is purple because it’s the color of royalty. Her favorite song is Her Majesty by the Beatles. Dianna loves to practice her strut and make sure the flock is in order. Her favorite store where her eggs can be found is Harvest Foods in Lolo.

Next, we’d like to introduce you to Bri. Her favorite color is light blue because it is calm and not too flashy. Her favorite song is Fireflies by Owl City. When Farmer Boy is away, Bri likes to mind her own business and avoid eye contact. Her favorite restaurant where her eggs can be found is Parker's Restaurant because it's delicious and close to home!

Meet Buttercup! Her favorite color is yellow, the color of sunshine and her blonde highlights. Her favorite song is unsurprisingly Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles. Buttercup enjoys sunbathing in the open field, working on her tan.

Say "hi" to Sami. Her favorite color is anything neon because she loves bright colors! Her favorite song is Friday by Rebecca Black (but she’d probably never admit to it out loud!). When she’s not busy laying eggs, she loves to primp her feathers and brag about being "blonde.” Her favorite restaurant where her eggs can be found is 406 Bistro because she loves to grab coffee and pastries with her gal pals.

Meet our free range model, Bella! Her favorite color is baby blue because it brings out her eyes. Her favorite song to cluck to is Vogue by Madonna. When Farmer Boy is away, Bella loves to practice poses in the reflection from the silo. Her favorite restaurant where her eggs can be found is Missoula’s Catalyst Cafe.

Finally, we’d like to introduce you to Candice. Her favorite color is sky blue because there’s nothing better than a clear sky. Three Little Birds by Bob Marley is her favorite song. Her favorite activity when Farmer Boy is away is doing wind sprints against the fence line. And her favorite store where her eggs can be found is Orange Street Food Farm in Missoula.
